Telehealth FAQ
Q: How much does a telemed visit cost?
A: Self pay pricing for Telehealth is $70 for new patients and $55 for existing patients.
Q: Do you accept insurance for telemed visits?
A: Yes. Telehealth is covered for patients who have the following insurances: Medicaid, Medicare, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Tricare, Medicare Part B, Aetna, Sunshine, Staywell, Humana, Florida Medicaid, Ambetter, Aetna, Better Health, Careplus
Q: Can the provider prescribe me medication during a video visit?
A: Yes. Just like a regular in-clinic visit, one of our providers can diagnose your condition and prescribe you medication(s) that you can pick up at your local pharmacy. To note, not all symptoms and conditions are able to be diagnosed through telemedicine.
Q: What symptoms and conditions are best treated through video telemedicine?
A: While many conditions are not able to be effectively diagnosed or treated through telemedicine, many of the most common symptoms can me. Here are some of the most frequent examples: common cold, upper respiratory infection, allergies, sinusitis (sinus infection), cough/bronchitis, sore throat, nasal congestion/drainage, pink eye, urinary tract infection (UTI), rashes, sleep problems/snoring, smoking cessation, and medication questions.
Q: Do I need to sign up for an account?
A: No. As a patient, you don’t need to create an account with us to see your provider. Simply book an appointment, register your details, and hop into the call at the scheduled time. Solv accounts are an option for added convenience.
Q: Can I book a same day appointment?
A: Yes. Video visits are open for both same and next day appointment times. Or, many times you can select “ASAP” to be connected with the next available provider.
Q: Will I need to download any software or app?
A: No. Our video telemedicine platform, powered by Solv, requires only an internet browser and sustained internet connection. No downloads or apps necessary.
Q: Are the video visits secure?
A: Yes. All data is encrypted using 128-bit keys to encrypt audio/video, and HMAC-SHA1 to verify data integrity.
Q: What is your response to Covid-19?
A: Specialist Doctors’ Group has responded to COVID-19 by hiring a medical grade cleaning company to disinfect and clean twice as often. Our staff is required to wear PPE provided by the company, as well as having sneeze guards installed at each location. Our patients are required to follow the mandatory mask policy placed by our local government in Hillsborough county. To encourage social distancing we have taped the floors to show how far apart everyone should stand and also spread lobby chairs so that each patient is at least six feet apart from one another. Our goal is to minimize contact with everyone and also properly screen patients to ensure safety to our staff and patients. We also implemented Telehealth to begin virtual visits to make our patients feel as safe as possible and be seen from the comfort from their home for certain symptoms. We have been closely following CDC guidelines and will continue to take all the precautions we can as a medical facility.
